HANGAR PARKING

PMA started flight operations in Palau in 2012, and worked out of a temporary shelter next to the terminal building.  It wasn’t until May of 2016 that the Republic of Palau signed an MOU with PMA and provided a plot of land that we could lease and build a more permanent building.  In 2018, work on the foundations began and by the end of 2019, the building was 80% complete.  As most projects go, this hangar went way over budget and progress had slowed.  On October 21, 2022 when borders were open and the Hangar was almost 100% complete, PMA celebrated a Hangar Grand Opening in which several dignitaries including the President Surangel Whipps Jr. attended and participated in a ribbon cutting.

Of course we could not have done it without the help of our servant-hearted building supplier Dick Ruckman, our Project Manager, Steven Swords, and the ever-efficient Surangel Construction Company, as well as many other construction companies who did smaller jobs up to the end.

We are so thankful to all the donors who contributed, Matson shipping who gave large discounts on shipping and all the others involved who gave big discounts on their bills to help us complete this project.
